Beautiful Grim and Boston, Too.

I want to extend a big thank you to Robert Dougherty and his crew at the Magic: the Gathering, Worldwake pre-release event yesterday.  It was a good time, and they treated me better than I probably deserve, so thanks to them.  The players and fans, also deserve a thanks for their support and kind words.  The day went by alarmingly fast and was a a lot of fun.  Thanks again, to all!

I also wanted to point out that I've added a new piece in the gallery, here.  It's my submission to the Beautiful Grim charity, the details for which can be found here.  I do hope you check it out as there's a lot of really great work up for grabs.  I will be sure to keep you all informed as details become available.

More Appearances and New Art

Not only will I be in Boston for the Worldwake pre-release at the end of January, but I will be at the Wizards of the Coast booth at PAX East, which will also take place in Boston from March 26th through March 28th.  This will be the first run for PAX on the east coast, which has enjoyed a pretty successful run in Seattle, Washington.  As mentioned, I will be at the Wizards booth where I will be signing stuff, showing off my wares, and chatting people up.

In addition to my two Boston appearances, I will be the Artist Guest of Honor at Conglomeration, a science fiction and fantasy convention in Louisville, Kentucky which takes place April 9-11.  I will have a good deal of work showing there, will be talking on a panel or two, and even doing a demo of some sort.  If you happen to be in the area, please stop on by and say hello and check out the con!

I'll be providing more details for these appearances as they become available, but in the meantime check out the new painting in the gallery, Joraga Warcaller.

Finally, I just wanted to make a quick note about the new graphic novel, Path of the Planeswalker, from Wizards of the Coast.  It's basically an anthology of Wizards' online comic tales of their planeswalker characters - seven pages of which I painted.  There's some really gorgeous work in the book by many of my fellow Magic artists, as well as some really great comic artists taking a crack at the world of Magic, so it's worth taking a look if you get a chance!

Thus concludes my longest news bit yet - more soon!

A New Year and a New Prerelease

It's hard to believe, but another year has gone and we've reached 2010.  I hope the transition from last year to the new one treated you all well.  My own transition was smooth and uneventful, and now it's back to business!

Speaking of business, it looks like I will be making an appearance at the Boston prerelease for the upcoming Magic: The Gathering set, Worldwake.  The prerelease takes place on January 30th, and I'll be sure to update with the location, times and any other pertinent information as soon as I have them.  So, if you're in the area and want to come and check out some original art, get some cards signed, or just feel like chatting me up, I hope to see you there!

Beautiful Grim and a Functional Hard Drive

First, old business: Illuxcon.  Awesome show.  I was truly humbled there.  So much incredible work from folks I'm familiar with and not so familiar with.  Very motivating.  I just hope I have it in me to step up my game even more!  Time will tell.  Anyway...

I recently threw my hat into the ring for Beautiful Grim, a charity started by a fellow artist, Daarken, to benefit his girlfriend, Cat, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 25.  The short story is it's an art auction that will help her wade through the financial bog this has placed her in, and beyond that will go toward related breast cancer charities.  All new, original art will be produced especially for this and the list of artists participating is astounding.  There will undoubtedly be some pretty choice pieces to bid on so be sure to check out the link above for details.

Finally, for anyone keeping tabs, my hard drive and its contents have been resurrected, relieving me of the burden of spending every waking moment of the next couple months rescanning and retouching everything I've done over the last 10 years.  This should leave time for actual personal work to get done!  Relieved and elated would be understatements!
